Agriculture
Our goal through our agricultural project is to support local small-scale farmers by giving them practical skills and knowledge to grow their farms.
We provide the skills and knowledge through programs like ‘Farming God’s way’, ‘foundations for farming’ and our farming day training. We also educate farmers on how you can use citrus and nut trees as a long-term solution to end poverty, as well as how to farm organically, manage crops, and make compost.
As our NGO walks closely with Liseli Farms, we incorporate the farm’s resources, knowledge, and skills to train the small-scale farmers with the necessary tools to grow their own farms.
Education
We believe education is the key to the future.
Ahavah School
A dream, becoming a reality.
It all started one beautiful afternoon in Western Zambia when Zoë, (Benjamin and Celeste’s youngest daughter, decided to take an afternoon walk to visit her friend in the village.)
While talking to her friend, Zoë found out that she was thinking of sending her 6-year-old daughter to school – which was located in the town, 30km away. To us, that doesn’t sound very far, but when you consider the state of the roads and the absence of transport, that would mean that they would probably only see their daughter on weekends – if they’re lucky.
Out of the blue, Zoë said something she never thought she would say:
“How about I teach her?”
She didn’t think that her friend would agree for a 12-year-old to teach her 6-year-old daughter, but she said yes! Zoë started teaching – and as the weeks went by, the number of children she taught increased.
After a year of teaching children in a small mud house, Zoë knew that they needed a proper school building. She did what she knew she had to do, and that was to pray.
She prayed and asked God to provide the funds to build a school building. A few weeks later God did exactly that. He miraculously provided all the funds to build the first school building.
We built our first proper building for Ahavah School in 2019. Since then, the school has grown tremendously, and we are currently planning on expanding the school in the coming year.
Feeding Programmes
Golden years with purpose
Every Monday, we have a program that focuses on uplifting the senior ladies in the community. They do small odd “jobs” (like hoeing on the fields or helping to peel peanut shells) at their own pace and receive a warm meal and a day’s wages to help them buy food and necessities for the month.
No rain, no gain
Mostly every year between December and February, we experience the so-called drought season. When the drought season starts, many communities have little to no food left from the previous harvest, and the newly planted crops are not yet ready. In this season, we help the communities by providing food to the most vulnerable.
School lunches
Every day we provide a nutritious meal for the children at Ahavah School.
Medical Care
We are currently building the first clinic on our farm. Most communities
need to walk 6-10km to the nearest clinic. In the past years, we had many
near-death emergencies (especially with communities that stay far
from clinics).
That’s why we decided to build our first clinic on our farm so that the surrounding villages have access to primary care without needing to
walk 6-10km.
Our goal for the clinic is to serve the communities and give them the highest standard of primary medical care.
We are busy planning and designing our next clinic/hospital that will be one of the largest medical facilities in the area with high-end medical equipment. This project will take us 3-4 years to complete. Head to our ‘Get involved’ page to support the project by donating or praying with us.
