News on Liseli Farm.
Let us catch a bird’s eye over Liseli
Living on the banks of the Zambezi, helps me truly to be reminded of the beauty of creation. The sunsets over the river, the birds singing in the trees, the pair of owls calling one another as day turns into night, a hippo laughing in the distance, the continual sound of crickets meeting together and so I can continue to elaborate on all creation “living” around us ……
This week, in particular, I found myself to be very excited, not only for the pure evidence that winter has started making its true appearance but alongside that – there’s a particular “family” that we have grown to love very much (and I think they love us too!”) And out of the blue – they came to surprise us again with their presence, (7 days ago) for the first time of the new season…
A little curious……? Let me tell you more…
.
About 9 years ago, during a time of drought, in dry and dusty conditions, a brave little Yellow-Bellied Bulbul bird, introduced him-/herself to our family while enjoying our breakfast at the table.
We quickly realized that “Billy” came intentionally and with a specific reason.
This little creature came with a begging spirit!
Help was needed!!
Breadcrumbs, cheese, or whatever food we could spare, would be good enough for him/her to survive on due to the scarcity of food they had to face.
That day was the beginning of a yearly cycle that continues up until today…
I was again stricken by the realization, that as much as this Yellow-Bellied Bulbul-family are dependent on us for a season to survive – we, in our own simple way, are also dependent on them…
It is a very small part we play in the harmonious “interaction” and we feel honored and privileged to be playing this role.
Through this yearly process, we become part of one another’s lives. But not without the crystal clear knowledge that our Heavenly Father is the main Provider of us all.
Matt 6:26 says: ” Look at the birds of the air, they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?
As much as our bird-family eats from our hands and plates (literary), we all (you, me, “Billy the bird”, your cat and dog, elephants, etc., etc.) eat together from the Hand of the Almighty Provider, that is held out to us – daily. In and out of seasons, right through them all!!!!
We are grateful and blessed in everything and all.
Prayer request
1. “Concerned about crops in the area.”
– The elephants have struck earlier and unexpectedly sooner this year on the communities maize crops. Please pray for the families that have been influenced for strength and hope to get through the year.
2. As the arrival of our first clinic’s infrastructure approaches, we ask that you would pray with us that the trucks transporting the infrustructure from South Africa will arrive safely on Liseli farms.
